“ Fattoria IL POETA” farm holiday centre is situated in Pontassieve, less than 30 kilometres from FLORENCE towards Mugello. The structure of the farmhouse was built around an ancient medieval tower at a hight of 350 metres on the slopes of Mount Giovi. Our family still lives and works here the whole year round. We produce oil, spelt, honey, season fruit and vegetables.
The products of the ORCHARD are the result of years of work and research in order to rediscover the ancient and almost disappeared varieties, those which best adapt to these soils and can be cultivated in a completely NATURAL way.
To reach us you need to go along a dirt road for about two kilometres, but once you get here, the only sounds you will hear are going to be the singing of birds, the sounds of the wood and those made by the many farm animals.
From our dog Dingo to our donkey Palmira, they will all welcome you!
At the farm you can also enjoy HORSE RIDING lessons (run by an ENGEA/National Corporation Environmental Equestrian Guide instructor), horse riding and pack animal trekking.
You will find Shetland ponies, horses, hinnies and donkeys, goats, rabbits, chickens, dogs, cats.. and more....Whatever you wish!
And if you wish to take along your four-legged friends, they are most welcome!
Even if tucked away in the green of woods and in the silver of the olive trees, Il Poeta farm is situated in a strategic position which allows guests to vary their holiday days.
Florence is only 30 km away, we will provide you with all the information necessary to enjoy it at best, from the best restaurants to the most interesting cultural events.
The proximity to marked paths offers many possible routes, both on foot and by mountain bikes or horse, always far from asphalted roads and leaving directly from home.
If you wish to eat at our place, you can taste our dishes, simple but delicious, and always different ones, as they are prepared with the products which, depending on the season, the orchard and our animals produce: from vegetables to honey, from eggs to the extra virgin olive oil.

Offer | | We have APARTMENTS and a room at our guests’ disposal, all furnished with care and with old family furniture accurately restored. All the apartments have a perfectly fitted kitchen and an oven
L'Acero and La Quercia are the result of a preservative restoration of the old hayloft adjoining the farmhouse. Both have an independent entrance and private garden.
Il Portale and La Stalletta are located on the ground floor of the main farmhouse, they have an independent entrance and each has an outdoor private space.
There is also a room and a structure acting as a stopping place for horses and horsemen passing by.
Inside the farmhouse there is a large room with a fireplace at guests’ disposal, where we can eat together and get to know each other

Services | There are many things you can do during your stay, even if you don’t feel like taking the car and decide to stay at the farm. Some of these activities have an additional cost. Here are some examples:
Horse riding from one hour to the whole day
Horse riding lessons for adults and children, also for beginners.
Peasant cuisine courses
Donkey riding, (Pack Animal Trekking)
Guided tours to the apiary and basic apiculture lessons
Children swimming pool
Italian language individual lessons
Guided tour to cellars and, during the olive picking season, to the oil mills.
Guided harvesting of nature produce (chestnuts, mushrooms, officinal herbs, depending on the season)
Partecipation to the picking of olives (end October/mid December) and spelt harvesting (July).
Helping with the daily care of animals.
It is best, especially during high season, to book the activities in advance and inform us about your interests at the time of booking.
