Country-Farm Holiday "Podere Le Serre", Roccalbegna Podere Le Serre is a biological Country-Farm Holiday in Roccalbegna, Maremma, Tuscany. It’s a perfect resort to stay in relax surrounded by a beautiful natural scenery: hills, woods, rivers, and the coast. In the sorroundings there are many famous thermal resorts such as Saturnia, the sunny beaches of Argentario, artistic and ancient towns such as Siena, Pisa and Florence, and many fantastic Medieval villages ("i borghi"). In the Agriturismo you can stay in very confortable rooms, and you can taste the flavours of traditional tuscan food (pasta as "pici", "tortelli", "gnocchi", "pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale", "taglierini coi ceci"...). We offer also interesting courses and creative workshops. Podere Le Serre is a “casale”, a traditional ancient renovated building. The house indeed was made of local stone; the whole estate, up in the hills, consists of a park, an oliveyard, an orchard, woods and the typical ‘macchia mediterranea’. The house has large arcades and ‘porticos’: here you can rest and sit relaxing yourselves, reading a good book, talking, listening to the music, drawing and writing. On sunny days, in the morning, here you can have your tuscan breakfast, and in the evening, in the moonlight, you can have your italian dinner. At the first floor there is a large terrace, a confortable ‘solarium’, facing on the oliveyard. In the portico, a big traditional oven and a grill let us cook good natural foods, which you can taste en-plein-air (as French people say). Two little ponds of spring water let you do some water fowls watching (but you can see also fishes, frogs and dragonflies). Huge centuries-old oaks cover the estate; in the hills there are many animals such as deers, hares, foxes, wild boars, porcupines – and you can easily see them, specially early in the morning and at dusk. In the house, there is the hall, with a large sofa and a bookcase containing guide-books and maps, useful items to visit the whole area and to know where to play some sports. At the ground floor there is the restaurant room, very typical. There is also a living room with a huge fireplace made of a white local stone, called ‘travertino’. If you are a reader, you can get a book searching in the Library. Rooms are large, they have the ceilings made of chestnut wood, and the windows have the traditional shutters. The doors were built by tuscan craftsman too. In every room you can enjoy the fantastic natural view. The furniture are made of fine wood, on the wall there are many pictures and paintings, the beds are very confortable (because we chose thick mattresses, on which you can sleep with relish and delight). In the casale the lighting was carefully studied, and in the rooms there are fine, artistic wall-lights.
