| | Lucca Lucca is situated on the river Serchio in a fertile plain near (but not on) the Ligurian Sea. It is the capital city of the Province of Lucca. Among other reasons, it is famous for its intact Renaissance-era city walls. In Lucca Giacomo Puccini
was born.
Lucca´s area is famous for its many villas that were built as holiday houses for rich merchants from Lucca from the 14th to the 18th centuries. The entire area is constructed according to precise aesthetical principals. Oil, wine and the typical spelt
flour are produced around the villas.
